Did I just add one more to my Wolf Pack?

by Adam Cuzzort

Recently I was on a flight flipping through potential movies to pass the time. Which led to me once again getting sucked into The Hangover. Which, funny enough, spurred a strategy I hadn’t quite put into words. Our dear friend, Alan Garner, played by Zach Galifianakis, prepares a little speech for his friends…

“I tend to think of myself as a one-man wolf pack. But when my sister brought Doug home, I knew he was one of my own. And my wolf pack… it grew by one.”

The most valuable thing we have as leaders is our people. You hear so many CEO’s and Founders state that they were “successful due to the talent they surrounded themselves with”. Far too often we take the same advice for granted in sales. You are the CEO of your team, your region, etc., and perhaps the entire organization. Inevitably we will move organizations, be promoted, you name it. Change will happen. When that time comes which sellers want to follow? Which ones want to join you on the next adventure? As you move up in your career you will need the best talent possible to achieve your goals.

Bottom line: invest in your wolf pack! Find a new seller on your team and make them better. Be a mentor to folks not on your team. Identify a high performing SDR that is looking to take the next step. The best possible scenario is that you train people well enough that they get promoted, or find an incredible opportunity you can’t provide to them today. This will pay incredible dividends in your career. These are people in your network that now value your opinion, trust you, and in turn will want to be a part of what you do next. Take time to build your wolf pack. Build relationships and trust with your team, it will be your greatest asset.
